Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy the Sugar Busters book?

I've seen it at most book stores and in many grocery stores.  You can also find is at Amazon.com.  Click here!

(Note: I'm not making any on the sale of this book, so please buy it wherever's most cost effective and convenient for you.)

Do you EVER cheat?

Assuming this question is about by diet, the answer is honestly "no".  The only exception to that answer is when I use glucose to recover from episodes of hypoglycemia.  (I'm a type I diabetic.)

Don't you get bored with the diet?

Not really.  In some ways I'm a creature of habit and find comfort in the fact that I eat oatmeal for breakfast almost every day.  In other ways, I'm more adventurous and like to endulge in cullinary creativity.  It's a fun challenge to make extraordinary food that's "legal" (staying within the guidelines of the Sugar Busters diet.

Has it been really hard?

Honestly, "no".  I won't say that there haven't been moments in which I've been frustrated or felt a little self pity but, on the whole, it's been a very positive experience and I enjoy the exercises that I do on a regular basis and in many ways my life is simpler than before.

Do you feel a lot better?

Well, yes and no.

Yes, of course I feel better.  I can fit into airplane and theater seats, I can run up several flights of stairs, I can ride 100 miles in a single day on a bike and, I haven't tried it yet, but I think I can leap over a building! <kidding>

But, no too.  I still feel the same on the inside.  I'm still a (arguably) funny guy.  I still love my wife and daughter.  I still like to groove to good music.  My very wise grandfather and I once had a conversation about growing old and he told me "Wade-boy, you're every age you've ever been.  You're a 12-year-old, a 20-year-old, a 33-year-old and so on...."

I guess my point is that although I can do a lot more things, physically, I'm still the same guy.  It just looks like--good Lord willing--I'll live longer and be able to do more things that I could have a couple of years ago.

So, how does your wife feel about "the new you"?

Te he he...

Do you keep your old clothes, just in case?

No, No, No.  It's probably important to add that we do most of our clothing shopping at thrift stores and clearance racks, so we don't spend a lot on clothes and all of the things I no longer wear are donated back to the thrift store.

However, except for my tuxedo (which I just can't bear to throw away), I've thrown away all my old clothes and I'm NOT looking back!

Do you eat fast food?

Sure, all the time.  I've found a few things at some common fast food restaurants.  Here's what I eat:
- Taco bell: 2 or 3 tacos without the shells (Just have them put the lettuce, meat and cheese in a bowl.)
- McDonalds: side salad with a grilled chicken breast added
- Wendy's: small chili (and sometimes a side salad if I'm very hungry)

I also eat a lot of quick lunches at grocery stores.  I like to eat single serving packets of cheese, fruit and sometimes a slice of deli meat.

Why don't you write a book?
Someday I might.  At this point, I think the web site is a great way to get the information to folks.
