Several months ago, a good friend of mine at work (that's you, Carson) saw me drinking another 44-oz Diet Coke during a meeting. This friend mentioned that she'd seen some research that caffeine can cause problems for diabetics (I'm a Type I diabetic). I hadn't heard about that research, but I had learned that the 2 44-oz Diet Cokes I drank each day was costing me about $2.50 per day and offering me little nutrition in return.
That afternoon, I bought a bottle to fill from the water fountain and have been drinking water, almost exclusively, ever since.
Here's why water simplifies life:
1. It's cheap. Almost free, actually.
2. It's universally available. Walk into a (non-fast food) restaurant and sit down at a table, see what shows up on your table without asking.
3. It's versatile. It's good ice cold or hot with a little lemon.
4. It's good for you. Your body needs water. Period.
5. It can help you lose weight. See the next rule: Your stomach doesn't know the difference between water and food.
So, remember: Water simplifies life. (Thanks, Carson.)
