Although this is a great rule to live by, no matter what, I have a specific meaning I'm trying to convey here.
I've been allergic to seafood (specifically, shellfish) since my freshman year of college. Before I became allergic to seafood, I really enjoyed trips to the seafood restaurant. Soon after seafood started making me sick, I didn't like the smell of it anymore and I didn't really want it anymore.
Seafood is poison to me. If I eat it, I'll get sick. Therefore, I don't eat seafood, just like I don't eat poison.
As I became used to the Sugar Busters way of eating, I started to realize that once I stopped eating sugar and white flour, my body didn't like them anymore. In the event that I mistakenly ate some sugar, my body reacted by making me sleepy, lethargic and ravenously hungry for more sugar. My body's reaction reminded me, in some ways, of the reaction I have to seafood. As time went on, I started to view sugar and the other things prohibited by the Sugar Busters diet as poison to my body.
I can honestly tell you that, although donughts and fried food smell really good, I don't want to eat them. My mind equates those foods to poison, so my desire to eat them is nearly non-existent.
